Marketing for a cause

Believe in the cause

If it is your job to provide marketing for a foundation or non profit then you may have to make yourself believe in the cause or at least think like someone who does but if you are volunteering be sure to lend your skill and time to something you really do believe in. People hear cheesy jingles and sales pitches 10 times a day and proficiently detect scammers. Set yourself and your organization a part by making an honest heartfelt appeal. This can only be done when the heart is involved and it is the most effective way to gain an audience.

Be Bold

Asking for money is only easy when you believe in the cause. Many times marketers come off as timid or even apologetic when asking for funds for worthy causes. This is unfortunate, if you believe in a cause then be bold when asking for support. You should believe that if everyone knew how great your cause is they would support you. The task simply becomes effectively getting the word out so be loud and proud.

Be creative

Instead of just doing run of the mill advertising think outside of the box. If marketing is for a children’s foundation consider setting up a booth at the park or zoo and hand out balloons with the foundation’s info on it or hand out personalized crayon boxes with the foundation’s logo. There are 1,ooo’s of ways to make an impression so think creatively to cement the name and needs of your cause in the minds of your target audience.
